Professional Scrum Master (PSM) II Practice Test

What does Courage mean in the context of Scrum?

Scrum Team members have the courage to do the right thing and work on tough problems.

In the context of Scrum, Courage means that Scrum Team members have the strength to tackle difficult challenges and make tough decisions. This value is essential because Scrum environments often involve uncertainty and complexity, requiring team members to not only identify hazards or obstacles but also to confront them proactively.

When team members demonstrate courage, they are willing to experiment, learn from failures, and ask for help when needed. This value helps to foster a safe and trusting environment where individuals can speak up about challenges, take risks, and advocate for what is necessary for the team's success. By embodying courage, the Scrum Team can address complex problems effectively and advance towards their goals, making progress in an iterative and incremental manner.

Other options focus on different aspects of teamwork such as respect, openness, and focus on goals, which are all important but do not encapsulate the specific concept of Courage within the Scrum framework.

Scrum Team members respect each other to be capable, independent people.

The Scrum Team and Stakeholders agree to be open about all the work and the challenges of performing the work.

Everyone focuses on the work of the Sprint and the goals of the Scrum Team.
